A Prayer About Prayer
A prayer about Prayer
When I need to talk with my Father
HEAVENLY FATHER,
I rushed through today, moving from one responsibility and person to another, and I barely spoke with you. Forgive me. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, I know that I can come directly into your presence at any time and in any place. I don’t need the aid of another person or an animal sacrifice. The only barriers that ever stand between us have been erected by me because of my sin and neglect. Forgive me. You are the King of the universe, but you are my Father, and you have invited me to come boldly to your throne—what a profound privilege; yet I don’t take advantage of it nearly enough. I get busy, but I should never be too busy to talk with you. Forgive me. Thank you for those sweet, extended times of prayer when I can pour out my deepest feelings, thoughts, and requests to you, and then just listen. And thank you for hearing my unspoken prayers and my thoughts directed to you, and for always being available to listen to my quick, whispered comments and requests. I love you, Lord.
Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:16
