A Prayer About Obstacles

When obstructions and barriers block my way

GRACIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER,

You know I want to do your will. But lately I have encountered more than the usual amount of hindrances. These can be small interruptions in my schedule, people needing something done “immediately,” forcing me to rearrange my day. These can also be irritants such as weather, car trouble, computer glitches, and traffic jams. Those problems seem to have increased the last few days. And on a much larger scale I have new obstacles that obstruct my view of you and barriers that block my way. These are of an interpersonal nature mostly—conflicts and complaints (many manufactured) that require my attention and drain my energy and emotion. There is drama on all sides. If this is spiritual warfare, bind Satan, I pray, so that he does not hinder my work for you. Please remove these obstacles, Lord, unless you have placed them to stop or redirect me. In that case, I ask for discernment and for strength. And please keep me from discouragement, remembering your promises and sensing your presence as I do your work for your glory.

I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
