A Prayer About My Reputation

A prayer about my Reputation

When I wonder what others think of me

FATHER,

I am convinced that a good reputation is important. Unfortunately, after a person is branded with a bad one, such as “cheater,” “liar,” or “unreliable,” the label can be difficult to shake. No wonder the proverb says that being well thought of is better than being wealthy. I have been thinking about the self-portrait I have been presenting. I am concerned because I know that what others think of me reflects on you, for I have been outspoken about my allegiance to you. I would hate to have someone say, “Well, if that’s what a Christian is like, then I’m not interested!” I want to be like Jesus and to reflect his values, humility, focus, love, and selfless service. I desire to be known as one who is loyal, faithful, honest, truthful, disciplined, moral, joyful, encouraging, and most of all, committed to Christ. And I want these qualities to be true of me, not simply an image I am trying to project. Please help me, Lord.

Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold. Proverbs 22:1
