A Prayer About Love For God

A prayer about Love For God

When my devotion seems weak

ALMIGHTY GOD,

I profess to love you, holding you at the top of my priorities, but then I make choices that belie those words and reveal me as a hypocrite. In Jesus’ conversation with a lawyer, recorded in Luke, he affirmed that we are to love you with all of who we are—heart, soul, strength, and mind. So Father, right now I ask you to change my heart, my deepest desires, conforming them to your will. The word soul speaks to my character, what I am like on the inside. So please make me your kind of person. As for my strength, the manner in which I live, please empower me to speak and act in accordance with your will. And transform my mind, I pray. Keep me from those thoughts and ideas that would pull me away from you. I know these changes won’t be easy and will involve a process of my continuing to submit to you every day. But I want to be your person, fully devoted to you—heart, soul, strength, and mind.

The man answered, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “Right!” Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!” Luke 10:27-28
