A Prayer About Lasting

When I’m frustrated with impermanence

DEAR LORD,

Everything I own seems to be wearing out or breaking down. The same is true with my body. Daily I become more aware of my mortality, with new aches and pains. Doesn’t anything last? You do—you are “from everlasting to everlasting,” and you promise that my life will not end at death but will also last for eternity. Why should I trust in the temporal when I have the eternal one? O Lord, I trust in you.

Praise the LORD, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and amen! Psalm 41:13
