A Prayer About Goodness

When I truly understand God’s nature

LORD,

I know the musical refrain, “God is good all the time.” That’s easy to sing and believe when I’m feeling fine, have money in the bank, and the future looks bright. But you are good all the time—even when I can’t see you and life seems to be falling apart, or in the in-between times of gray ordinary. I know the truth, dear Father. And I hold on to it right now. Help me to trust you fully and to live joyfully, knowing that you are indeed good.

How kind the LORD is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours! Psalm 116:5
