A Prayer About God’s Support
A prayer about God’s Support
When I discover a profound Bible promise
HEAVENLY FATHER,
As I read the eighth chapter of Romans, a small phrase got my attention. I have read this passage many times, but at this reading, I stopped to consider the implications. Just four words, but loaded with promise—I read, “God is for us.” And I thought, You are for me. What a positive note of encouragement. You are not neutral or “against” or angry—you are interested, involved, and want success, the very best. And then it gets personal: you are for me. Wow! The eternal, all powerful, all knowing, sovereign God is on my side, working with me, on my behalf, encouraging me to succeed. It is as though you are cheering me on throughout life’s race as my biggest fan. Or as someone has said, my picture is on your refrigerator. What can I say, Lord? I know I don’t deserve your love, your favor. But in your grace you give it. Paul asks a rhetorical question: “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these?” Then he answers it: “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” No one. Hallelujah!
