A Prayer About Glorifying God

A prayer about Glorifying God

When I think about life’s mundane tasks

HEAVENLY FATHER,

Often I act as though you are interested only in my spiritual activities such as praying, reading my Bible, tithing, worshiping, teaching Sunday school, and sharing my faith. But I also know you want to be involved in the big issues in my life: my choices and actions at home, with friends, on the job, in church, around the neighborhood, and in the community. Certainly I need to consider your will in those places and honor you in how I think, speak, and act. But life consists mostly of the small and mundane, the routines of daily living: preparing for the day, eating, driving, cleaning the house, answering e-mails, talking on the phone, exercising, cutting the grass, shoveling snow, planting flowers, shopping. I also know that you want me to do it all for your glory. Please help me to remember that personal exhortation, Lord. You are interested and involved in every detail of my life, and I want to glorify you in all things big, small, and in between—with every breath and in every situation.

Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
