A Prayer About Generosity

A prayer about Generosity

When I understand all that I have been given

PRECIOUS SAVIOR,

I call myself “thrifty,” conservative with my money and spending, although others might say I’m a tightwad. I look for bargains when I shop and use coupons whenever possible. I also hate wasting anything, but that can mean not giving at all and holding on for dear life. I don’t think I love money, but I have to admit that sometimes I can act like a miser. You have told us to be good stewards and to be generous, so please help me loosen the strings on my purse. I want to be known as a giver, not a taker. Every day I am surrounded by needy people. Many I know personally, at church and in my neighborhood. Others I learn about through missionary letters, ministry reports, and financial appeals. I want to be a soft touch for the right causes, doing your work and spreading your Word in the world. You have been so generous, even dying on the cross for me. I want to be like you.

Generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity. Isaiah 32:8
