A Prayer About Example

When I need to make a good impression

HEAVENLY FATHER,

If asked, I would readily admit that I am a Christian, a “Christ-one,” someone who claims Jesus as Savior and Lord. In fact, I have given my testimony several times in Christian settings and attend church regularly, for worship, education, Bible studies, and many other events. Beyond that, however, how do I make known my identification with Christ and his Kingdom? Do I effectively imitate your Son in how I think—my values, perspective, hopes, and thought life? Do people know about you by the way I speak, relate, and act? I know this is a challenge because of the kind of world I live in and the pressures I feel and face, but I want to be your person. Whether I am relatively old (like Paul) or young (like Timothy), many people—believers and unbelievers—are observing me and drawing conclusions about the reality of my faith by how well I reflect your character and values. Help me to model maturity in faith, to be a good example. May people see Christ in me and be drawn to him!

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
