A Prayer About A Clean Heart

When I recognize my guilt before God

GRACIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER,

Confronted with his terrible sins, David was devastated. Broken and contrite, he confessed and asked you to remove the “stain” of his guilt. Sin stains me deeply, too, Lord. I know that Jesus died for me and that my sins are forgiven, but I want a clean heart. Scrubbed, rinsed, purified, I want to follow you wholeheartedly. Forgive me, Father, for wanting anything but your perfect will.

Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Psalm 51:9-10
