Where True Intimacy Takes Place

A relationship exists when two or more parts come together to create a unified whole. Two people have one conversation. Several members make up one committee.

Marriage is, of course, the best example. A husband and wife can only be truly unified at their points of difference. What makes a partner “suitable” isn’t that he or she is exactly the same. It’s that their differences challenge and force each person out of his or her selfishness into the messy and life-giving proposition called intimate relationship.

Our relationship with God works similarly. It is in our otherness that true intimacy takes place. While man is created in God’s image, he is not God. And God is far above what we could ever imagine.

But while in so many ways completely other, God still has entered into our frail existence and has invited us to join with Him in intimate relationship.

He invites you to know intimacy with Him and teaches you how to better find intimacy with those who matter.
