The Promise Of Relationship
The Promise of Relationship
What is the point of a promise?
Too often, we make a promise but never keep it. We promise to return that book and then see it years later in our yard sale box. We promise we’ll pray for someone and forget to do so. We promise we’ll stick with a friend through thick and thin but slowly go our own way.
God makes promises too. He promises He’ll never leave us or forsake us. He promises that our lives will have purpose and meaning if we’ll follow His way. He partners with us through covenants and makes His will known to us in testaments.
Is He trustworthy to keep His promises? The Bible certainly says so. Perhaps you have friends or family who say the same. It’s risky to trust in such faithfulness if you’ve never seen it, but if your relationships are to have any promise, perhaps you can risk trusting in this God of the unseen.
There is a living God; he has spoken in the Bible. He means what he says and will do all he has promised. —Hudson Taylor
