Stewardship

It’s hard to recognize how the created world connects us to God, to stand in awe of its mountains and oceans, to celebrate its beauty, to be moved by its breath of inspiration—and not want to protect this temple of worship for ourselves and future generations.

Some say it’s silly to imagine that we could have any real impact on nature. Some point out that God gave us creation for our benefit. All this is true to a degree. But any gift should be handled with care and respect. It should be honored because it bears the mark of the Divine.

So while recognizing nature’s power and benefiting from its resources, we can certainly take steps to leave it like we found it.

In stewarding creation, we honor its Chief Architect to whom we owe our life and being.

The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. —Genesis 2:15
