Inspiration

Have you ever gone sailing? The wind blows, and the boat moves. The sail and other mechanisms will affect the boat’s direction, and a sailor can use the wind to set his desired course. But should there be no wind, or too much, the boat is the victim of nature’s whims.

Like most creatures, you’re made alive by the winds and breath of creation. And you’re kept alive by the very breath that you breathe. You’re inspired to be who you were created to be by the breath and Spirit of God.

God spoke with a mighty breath and the world was created. God still speaks and reminds us that we’re alive and still have work to do. And, despite our occasional success in controlling the winds of life, we must rely on His inspiration to move in the direction He would take us.

The LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. —Genesis 2:7
