Breaking Bread

Breaking Bread

The table is large. You look around and see almost everyone you love. You can barely see the polished wood surface for all the bowls and platters of homemade food. You start to fill your plate. You pass to the left. Your belly and your heart are filled to the brim.

You smell burning charcoal mixing with the summer breeze. The grill master is hovering over the grill, ready to flip burgers at a moment’s notice. You can barely see the picnic table for all the potato salad, beans, and sweet tea. You share quiet conversation and laughter with your favorite people. There can be no better day than today.

If you’re like most people, two of your favorite things are probably eating and spending time with family and friends. Part of living the joyful life is combining those two as often as possible.

The joy of food and fellowship is meant to be savored. Eat it up. Drink it in. And come back for more.

Every day they continued to meet together. . . . They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.
