Make Time To Play

Make Time to Play

Spend some time with children and you’ll remember that play is the fuel for life. Working adults need the release of recreation and play perhaps more than any child.

But if you are a working adult, your life is full of competing responsibilities. So ironically, you’ll likely need to schedule your play and make it part of your routine. Recreation matters just as much as eating, sleeping, and paying the bills.

Plan weekend trips or summer vacations at state parks, the beach, or the mountains. Visit museums and browse antique shops. Take up walking, jogging, or bike riding, or join an amateur sports team. Arrange regular game nights with family or friends. Join a book club. Try out different restaurants. Go out for live music. Join a choir, orchestra, or community theater.

Your joy is limited only by your lack of imagination.

Make time to play.

The real joy of life is in its play. . . . [It] is the business of childhood, and its continuation in later years is the prolongation of youth.
