Being Open To Feedback

Being open to Feedback

Have you ever seen your image in a mirror and then shortly after looked at a recent photo of yourself and gasped? How could you look so different?

What about when you speak? Most people grow accustomed to the way they sound. But then you record your voice and play it back. That can’t be you, can it?

The way we see ourselves in photos or hear ourselves on recordings is how others see and hear us. But we can’t see that from our own perspective. We need to step outside ourselves to get a better understanding of who we are.

We waste a lot of time arguing with others about how we come across. But we’re using different filters, and we need to respect the feedback we get in our safe communities when others point out something we may not recognize or accept about ourselves.

Want to discover more about who you are? Then listen to what others tell you.

Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding. —Proverbs 15:32
