A Safe Community To Reveal Yourself
A Safe Community to Reveal Yourself
Of course, some caution is needed. Some may not understand or value your openness and may spread it like tabloid gossip. Others—reminded of their own pain—may react with sarcasm, anger, or other erratic behavior.
Finding a safe community in which to reveal yourself will be necessary.
Begin with a seasoned counselor. He or she will teach you how to unlock some of those long-closed doors and can show you how sharing such things can still feel safe.
And then find a safe support group. Two keys to look for in such groups: a mature leader who will help protect the safety of what’s shared and participants who share your commitment to healing and will protect what is heard.
Opening up to others is risky. But if you trust that God wants to heal you, then trust that He’ll make a way for it to happen safely and securely.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
