Why is it important for me to have self-control over my emotions? - Emotions - TouchPoints
Proverbs 16:32Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city.
Proverbs 25:28A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.
James 1:19-20You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
2 Peter 1:5-7Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
Self-control is the key to preventing our emotions from getting out of control. The more we recognize the specific emotions that get the better of us and the more we rely on the help of the Holy Spirit, the more we will be able to control those emotions by directing them into positive rather than negative directions.
