When is anger appropriate?

Numbers 25:10-11“Phinehas . . . has turned my anger away from the Israelites by being as zealous among them as I was.”

Anger at sin is not only appropriate, but necessary.

Mark 3:5He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored!

John 2:15-17He [Jesus] drove out the sheep and cattle, scattered the money changers’ coins over the floor, and turned over their tables. . . . he told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!”

Jesus’ righteous anger arose from his devotion to God and compassion for others. It led to good deeds not bad.
