What are the benefits of restraining anger?

Proverbs 15:1A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.

Proverbs 19:11Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.

Proverbs 29:11Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

Rarely will we regret having kept our temper. Whereas venting anger breeds more anger, restraining anger often cools the fires of conflict. Restraining our anger is a clear indicator of our wisdom and maturing character.
