How can I avoid disciplining out of anger?

Ephesians 6:4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Hebrews 12:6The Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.

We should avoid disciplining someone until our anger has subsided. When we discipline someone, we must make sure our hearts are filled with love for that person, not anger. Our discipline should be appropriate to the offense and meant to correct the wrong behavior. It should never be an expression of anger.
