How do we affirm one another? Why is it so important?
Romans 14:19So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.
1 Corinthians 14:26When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11, 13So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing . . . Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work. And live peacefully with each other.
Hebrews 7:7Without question, the person who has the power to give a blessing is greater than the one who is blessed.
We affirm one another through respect, encouragement, praise, and building each other up. This helps us and others feel loved and strengthens our sense of worth.
Romans 1:11-12I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
1 Corinthians 15:58So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
Galatians 6:9So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
2 Thessalonians 3:13Evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.
2 Timothy 1:5-7I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
When we are afraid, discouraged, or weary, godly affirmation can encourage us to persevere.
