Looking In The Wrong Places

Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Matthew 7:14

If you’ve ever lost your cell phone, a diamond ring, or the remote control to your television, you know there’s only one simple thing that can keep you from finding it: looking in the wrong places. For every lost item, there are potentially hundreds of wrong places to look, but only one right place. Once we find the right place, our problem is solved, and our loss is restored.

Millions of people today are looking for inner strength and mental peace. They’re looking for ultimate purpose and meaningful relationships. They’re searching for spiritual fulfillment and eternal life. There are thousands of wrong places to look, but only one right place—in the Lord Jesus Christ.

At the beginning of His ministry, Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, “Difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). At the end of His ministry, He said, “I am the way” (John 14:6). When we find Christ, we find all we want and all we need. He is our All in All.

Oh, it is madness to choose any other road; it is stark madness to think you will get adequate help anywhere in the universe apart from this divine Savior and Lord.
