Daily Investment
Daily Investment
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
Luke 9:23
Although we may not like to acknowledge it, there are consequences for desiring rewards without investment. During the housing boom of the early 2000s, many bought houses they couldn’t afford. Because finance companies were willing to fund those bad loans, buyers ignored good judgment and saw only the rewards they could have with little to no sacrifice. The reward of a big home was either in jeopardy or gone completely when the recession of 2008 hit. We can’t have something for nothing.
In the same way, we must invest our time, our thoughts, and our prayers into our relationship with God if we desire the indescribable blessings He has to offer us. We so often live on the fringe of an amazing life with God, never quite reaching our full potential because we fail to invest in knowing God’s will and His way.
Regarding godly wisdom, the Bible says, “Blessed is the man who listens to me [wisdom], watching daily at my gates” (Proverbs 8:34). Are we listening and watching daily? Are we investing now for a future of promised blessing?
To place ourselves in range of God’s choicest gifts, we have to walk with God, work with God, lean on God, cling to God, come to have the sense and feel of God, refer all things to God.
