Your Special Assignment
Your Special Assignment
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
Ephesians 1:4
No matter how little you may think you have to offer, you have special gifts and an assignment for God’s kingdom. He wants to use you for something wonderful.
When Josiah was eight years old, he became king of Israel—and he reigned thirty-one years (2 Kings 22:1). He had a special assignment foretold hundreds of years before his birth (1 Kings 13:2). That assignment was to rid Israel of idolatry and to renew his people’s covenant with God. The Bible says that Josiah did what was right in the sight of the Lord and walked in the ways of David (2 Kings 22:2). Josiah fulfilled his purpose, and he was pivotal in restoring the house of God, as well as respect for His Word and opportunities to worship the one true God.
God has made each of us just as purposeful. He wants us to do for our generation what Josiah did for his: use our gifts for His glory and to build His kingdom. It’s wise to discover God’s specific purpose for your life by seeking Him, reading His Word, and searching your heart for the gifts and passions He has placed there. Remember: He chose you before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4), and He will equip you.
Creator God, please show me what You designed me to do for Your kingdom. I want to fulfill Your special assignment for me.
