The Spirit’s Awesome Power

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”

Luke 4:18

My husband, Nick, is a whiz with computers and technology. I am a dinosaur, and that’s fine with me. But when I get frustrated with some software on my laptop, he always helps me figure it out so I can accomplish so much more than my natural skills allow.

That’s exactly how the Holy Spirit operates in our lives. He is our “Helper.” And He enables us to reach out beyond ourselves and help others. With Him, we can accomplish unthinkably more than our skills allow. We don’t possess the power of the Holy Spirit just so we can have a peaceful Christian life. That is great, but if we stop there, the Holy Spirit inside us is a little like my laptop without Nick’s help—not operating up to full power.

Open up your heart and let the power of the Holy Spirit move within you to do all He’s called you to do—to proclaim freedom to others in bondage, to help the blind see, and to set the oppressed free. In His hands, you’ll be able to accomplish far more than you ever could on your own.

Lord, I allow Your Holy Spirit to work freely in me and through me to bring hope and truth to hurting people.
