The Future Of The Church
The Future Of The Church
I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Matthew 16:18
The future of the church is bright! Every time I stand in a stadium filled with young people desperate to worship and eager to change their world for Jesus, I am inspired with hope for the future. The greatest days for the church are ahead of us, not behind us—because there is a generation of young people marked by God for greatness in a brand-new way.
Hebrews 11 tells us all about the giants of faith in the Bible, and what they did “by faith.” Paul did this not to make us think that things were so much better in the old days, but to remind us that we also are part of this heritage. God is not up in heaven worrying about the economic, social, or political state of our world, or the challenges we face. No! He is “building his church”—so aggressively that not even the gates of hell can prevail against it! And we are working with him, as co-laborers ushering in the lost, and so will the Christ-followers who come after us.
Through Jesus, we have the victory. Through Jesus, we have the ability and strength to endure. Through Jesus, we join our ancestors in telling the next generation about how very great our God is. And in His power, the best is yet to come.
Lord, bless this generation! Thank You for placing us on this earth to build Your church and to encourage those who come after us, until You finally come.
