Protect Your Identity
Protect Your Identity
Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:17
A friend of mine went through the awful ordeal of being a victim of identity theft. She encountered nothing but frustration when she couldn’t use her credit cards or access her money. Since then, she’s taken all necessary precautions to protect her identity!
In the same way, it is crucial we do all we can to ensure that we protect our identity in Christ. The Bible teaches us, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10 NKJV). That’s why it’s so important to remember who God says you are! If we’re not careful to take the steps designed to protect our blood-bought identities—like memorizing and hiding God’s Word in our hearts and minds—then while we’re busy trying to forge our own identities, we run the risk of the Enemy stealing our true identity from us.
Just as we go to great measures to protect our credit cards, bank accounts, and documents, let’s also ensure that in our pursuit of having and doing it all, we don’t lose our true identity: who we are in Christ (which is unchanging). Fight for your identity today by remembering who He says you are.
God, I want to live in my true identity. Help me keep who You say I am foremost in my mind and heart!
