Our Trust-building God

Our Trust-building God

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91:2

Trust building is a process. But you don’t have to go the journey alone. God knows how to grow your trust. He knows how to both sow seeds of trust and nourish them. He knows how to repair trust when it’s been broken and how to restore trust when it’s been lost. God is in the trust-growing business.

And what does God use to grow it? Exactly what the Enemy uses to try to keep us from trusting. God uses our fear to grow our trust. So when you come face-to-face with fear, remember this: you are looking at the very next place God wants to build your trust (Joshua 1:9).

So how do you cooperate with God in this trust-building journey? You put more faith in what you do know about God than in what you don’t know about the future. You walk in obedience, acting as if you trust God even if your trust is waning. Your heart just may follow once you see Him come through in His will.

As Peter advised, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6–7).

Thank You for being a trust-building God. Please help me to see fears as places where You want to build my trust, and to remember how much You care for me.
