Off The Treadmill

Off The Treadmill

The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

Psalm 18:20

I will never forget the freedom I felt when I finally stepped off the performance treadmill and reveled in God’s acceptance of me just as I was.

When I stopped trying to make myself right with God through my own good works, I discovered His grace. I didn’t have to earn His acceptance. I didn’t have to live a perfect life. I didn’t have to be in control of everything.

I found He was readily available to help me up when I fell down, and He kept me going when I wanted to quit. Nothing saps the life out of us faster than trying to make ourselves right with God. Only our faith in Jesus Christ and His redemptive work on the cross brings us into right standing with God.

God’s grace changed me, so over time I stopped thinking about all the things that were wrong with me and I started thinking more about all the things that were right with Jesus. I have since discovered that we become what we behold, and as I beheld Jesus, I started to become more like Him because God’s Spirit was at work in me.

You, too, can hop off the performance treadmill. Jesus’ righteousness is your righteousness.

I am righteous! Thank You, Father, for such truth and freedom in my life. Thank You that I do not have to perform for Your acceptance.
