Motivating Mentors

Motivating Mentors

Remember your leaders . . . and . . . imitate their faith.

Hebrews 13:7

As you travel your Christian journey, it can take a lot of strength at times to keep going—to keep believing. One thing I learned that has helped me tremendously to stay strong, faithful, and forward-looking is a lesson I learned long ago: make the faith of others a motivator.

In other words, look to your mentors—the ones who inspire you. When I look to my pastors and other leaders in the faith, I get so inspired by their tenacity, courage, and dependability. I think that if they can do it, then I can do it too. Although I can’t imagine what it would be like to spend a lifetime cleaning the wounds of lepers and helping the lame in India (my challenge would be with the fact there is no running water in many places), Mother Teresa’s story helps me believe that maybe, just maybe, I can do half as much for humanity in my lifetime as she did in hers.

Read the stories of people who have achieved great things. Surround yourself with people who love Jesus and are living for Him. As you do, you will see God moving through them to make His kingdom come to earth—and you’ll be inspired and empowered to fulfill your destiny!

Lord, thank You for working through the lives of others. Help me draw strength and motivation from them to keep moving forward.
