Lifesaving Medicine

The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

Psalm 19:7–8

God will give you the power to exchange any of the Enemy’s lies for His unchanging truth. But what is your role in this process? What do you need to do in cooperation with God to trade wrong thinking for God’s thoughts?

As you are already doing by reading this devotional, continue to start each day by filling your mind with the Word of God. Remind yourself of what God says about you and what the pages of Scripture say about Him. When you are armed with the truth of His Word, you will be better able to stand strong against any fears, negativity, or lies that the Enemy hurls your way.

If you’re not yet convinced of the value of opening your Bible before your day gets going, consider this analogy: if you needed kidney dialysis every day to stay alive, you would do it, right? I urge you to consider studying the Word just as important. The Word will keep you on God’s path and help you know joy, hope, and peace, whatever comes your way.

Lord, thank You for Your Word. Please make me hungrier for the Scriptures—and to consider them as crucial to my health as life-saving medicine.
