Letting Go
Letting Go
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7
Control is something we often grasp for in order to stabilize our lives. When Nick and I were first dating, and long before I was free, he helped me realize that I tried to control so much—including where we ate, what we did, and when we left.
It seems silly, but it was a learned response to protect myself—and it was rooted in fear. I had somehow bought into the belief that if I could control all the scenarios in my life, and in the lives of those around me, I would be safe. Safe from what? Who knows. Whatever I was afraid would happen if I gave up control.
But the truth is, God is in control—and we should just let Him be God in our lives. Just as I had learned to control, I learned not to. I quit trying to manipulate people or circumstances, and instead, I learned to pray and cast all my cares and anxieties over on the Lord.
God truly cares for you, so cast your cares on Him. Let Him free you from all the stress, anxiety, worry, scheming, and fretting. Trust God—and how much He cares for you.
Lord, I cast all my cares over on You. I trust You and will stop controlling everything and everyone around me. I believe that You care for me.
