Goodbye, Indecision

Goodbye, Indecision

Who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.

Psalm 25:12

We make thousands of decisions each day—what to get at the grocery store, which outfit to wear, how to spend our day. And each choice takes energy from us. Sometimes there’s so much small stuff to decide about that it’s easy to see why we avoid making decisions about the big stuff.

Indecision has gotten the best of me on a few occasions. I’ve learned the hard way, and perhaps you have too, that indecision can cause us to miss our dreams. Sometimes we choose to sit on the fence and procrastinate for so long that the opportunity sails right by us. We may even try to spiritualize our indecision by convincing ourselves we haven’t heard from God. Yes, we need to ask for the Holy Spirit’s leading, but I believe there are some decisions God is waiting for us to make before He opens or closes a door.

So be brave—don’t avoid decisions. You can even start small as a way of working this habit into your life. I dare you: the next time you’re in a restaurant, pick something from the menu before asking everyone else what they’re having, and stick with your choice. Seize the day! Make a decision and surprise yourself!

God, I want all my decisions to glorify You. Thank You for the courage to choose, and the wisdom to choose rightly.
