God’s Plan

God’s Plan

They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

Luke 24:32

In your times of heartache and disappointment, Jesus won’t leave you or forsake you. In fact, He’ll walk right along with you as you face your pain.

The two disciples experienced this firsthand after Jesus’ crucifixion. Where they once burned with excitement, listening to all His teachings, they now walked away feeling so defeated. How could God let this happen? they must have wondered. They had believed that Jesus was the one God had sent to redeem Israel. What a privilege to work for that glorious end. They had been so sure, so committed, so excited. Yet they still were trying to fully grasp that Jesus had been crucified.

As they left Jerusalem, a third man joined them, but they didn’t realize who He was. They were lost in their brokenheartedness and deep disappointment. And then, Jesus let them really see Him.

He was right there with them—walking right alongside them—the one who gave them hope that God had a plan, the one who taught them that God would use that crucifixion to redeem the human race. Jesus had not left them. He had not forsaken them. And He hasn’t left or forsaken you—and He never will.

When Your plan is hard to see, Lord Jesus, please show me how You walk with me. Thank You for never leaving me nor forsaking me.
