Getting Past The Giants

Getting Past The Giants

With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.

Psalm 18:29

Goliath wasn’t the only giant in the Bible. An entire society of big, burly adversaries were occupying the promised land when Moses and his twelve leaders arrived to take possession of it. When they saw those giants, ten of the leaders gave up: “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are” (Numbers 13:31).

They saw only the difficulties and apparent impossibility. They saw giants and were afraid: “All the people we saw there are of great size. . . . We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them” (Numbers 13:32–33).

Then, as now, possessing what’s ours in God sometimes requires getting past the giants in life. It requires making God bigger on the inside of us than the obstacles we’re facing—than anything coming against us. If we do that, we can get past any giants. Nothing is too difficult for God, and that’s a promise (Matthew 19:26)!

So, whatever you’re facing today, go to the Word. Find God’s promises for you and make that truth bigger than your giant. Then, you can advance against an entire troop and scale any wall.

Almighty God, when I encounter giants, I make You bigger than anything I’m facing!
