Getting Back On Course
Getting Back On Course
Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.
Jonah 1:4
When you’re off course and headed the wrong way in life, God always provides a way back to Him—and sometimes spectacularly. For Jonah, after he’d bought his ticket, boarded the ship, and sailed for Tarshish, God sent a storm and a big fish.
Jonah’s disobedience jeopardized the lives of the ship’s terrified crew. They made it through the storm, but Jonah found himself in the belly of a fish. From there the wayward prophet made a critical shift: he cried out to God. In places of great frustration or when we feel trapped with no way out, God often does His greatest work in us. In such cases, He brings us to a place where we finally stop running long enough to be still and hear His voice.
The word of the Lord came to Jonah again, and he chose his purpose. If you have been running away from the will of God, let this be the moment that you decide to stop running and return to Him. Today is a good day to get off the boat that is taking you the wrong way and get back on the course God has for you.
Gracious God, please show me the ways I am heading in the wrong direction. I want to get back on Your course for me.
