Fishers Of People

Fishers Of People

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

Matthew 4:19

Not every one of us is called to stand on a platform and preach or to be part of the church’s evangelism team or worship team. But every single one of us believers has the ability to tell people about Jesus’ love and grace.

That’s what Jesus meant when He said He’d send us to fish for people. Whatever our personalities, gifts, and talents, Jesus will use us to draw people in to His saving grace.

Some Bible versions say that Jesus will make us fishers of people or of men, and the word make means “to shape, to frame, to form, to construct.” In other words, Jesus will take you as you are and transform you. This transformation is different from a gift or a calling. It’s you becoming more like Jesus as you continue to follow Him. That kind of soul beauty draws people in to Him.

How can you fish for people? Ask God to reveal to you the special tools He gave you so you can touch others with His love. Ask Him to give you His heart for others. Follow Him; then stay open to every opportunity. He will turn you into a fisherman yet.

Lord, transform me to be like You, so I can draw others in to saving hope. Make me ready to share the gospel when someone asks what makes me different.
