Church Family

Church Family

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

Psalm 92:12–13

This is the season when most of us connect with family—holiday meals, outings, parties, and fall festivities light everything up. But regardless of how much you enjoy your natural family, know that you have another, larger family who wants to support and celebrate with you as well—your church family.

God designed our church families to birth us, nourish us, and launch us—just like a mother does with her children. For nine months with each of my girls, my body was their entire world. In there they had all the nutrients they needed to grow and develop. In the same way, the church is to our potential what the womb is to a growing baby. Just as an embryo must implant itself in the wall of the uterus so it can grow, we too must implant ourselves in our local church in order to see our dreams become a reality.

The local church feeds and nourishes our potential and dreams through a steady diet of praise and worship, Bible-based teaching, and relationships with people who help us. This Thanksgiving season, connect yourself with all your family—both natural and spiritual. Plant yourself in God’s house, and flourish in His peace and provision.

Lord, thank You for Your church—my spiritual family here on earth. Help us flourish together.
