Chosen For A Purpose

I pray . . . that you may know . . . his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead.

Ephesians 1:18–20

God has called you for a kingdom purpose, and nothing can disqualify you. Consider these legends from the Bible who chose to serve His kingdom purposes despite characteristics that should have disqualified them:

• Noah got drunk (Genesis 9:20–27).

• Sarah was impatient (Genesis 16).

• Abraham was old (Genesis 17:1; 24:1).

• Jacob was a cheater (Genesis 25–27).

• David had an affair (2 Samuel 11–12).

• Jonah ran away (Jonah 1:3).

• Peter had a temper (John 18:10).

• Paul persecuted believers (Acts 8:3; 9:1–2).

• Martha was a worrier (Luke 10:40–41).

• Thomas doubted (John 20:24–26).

God had a purpose for each of these people. He chose them. He called them. He qualified them. And He empowered them. And He does the same for you and me. Whatever limitations you perceive, go and serve in God’s name. Lean into a limitless God and see where He takes you. It will be the ride of your life.

Lord, I’m so grateful that Your power is greater than my own human limitations. Make me effective for Your purposes.
