Choosing To Trust
Choosing To Trust
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”
John 14:1
Think back to the last time you confronted a tough situation you could do nothing about. How did you respond? Those times can be so overwhelming. Often, we collapse, become anxious, mourn, and grieve. We can feel overwhelmed.
And yet, Jesus tells us to not let our hearts be troubled; therefore, we must be able to learn how to not let our hearts be troubled over situations we can do nothing about. Jesus’ words “Do not let” imply that you can take an active role in letting or not letting your heart be troubled. To choose the latter, remind yourself of God’s sovereignty and goodness. Read Job 38–41 to remember how great and powerful God is, and then your situation may not look so big. Pray to God, who can solve and fix what you can’t. Call on the Holy Spirit to be your Comforter, to be your help in this time of need. Consider making this your prayer: “Lord, I do not see You and I do not understand what You are doing, but I am choosing to trust You.”
Whatever is happening in your life today, you can choose to trust. Take steps today to “let not your heart be troubled,” because your Savior is with you.
Almighty God, please help me find peace in remembering the storm is not big to You. Please help me choose to trust You today and always.
