Beat The Faith-shakers

I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Psalm 13:5

Your faith will grow through the uncertain and the unknown. As tempting as it might be to stay where you are, living with the certain and the familiar, your faith won’t grow if you never move forward. Our Enemy has quite the set of tactics to keep you in that place of stagnation. I call those tactics faith-shakers.

My list is by no means exhaustive. But I’ve found that believers who conquer these tactics with unshakeable faith are well equipped to handle just about anything that comes their way. Faith can defeat everything on this list:

• Negative circumstances

• Fear

• Failure

• Unmet expectations

• Relational strife

• Weariness

• Opposition

• Hopelessness

When you find yourself dealing with one of these faith-shakers, fight back! Choose to accept the situation or emotional state as an opportunity for you to see God work. Yes, the Enemy wants to keep you from looking to God and trusting Him. But God wants to use those situations and emotions to grow your faith, and He is far more powerful than the Enemy. Know that God is at work at these times and strong to help you, as He always is.

Thank You, God, for helping me recognize enemy tactics so that, in Your power, I can both stand strong when I encounter them and expect to see You work.
