A Matter Of Trust

A Matter Of Trust

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

Luke 22:42

When I worked in youth ministry, I sadly watched some young people walk away from God. Yes, they wanted to follow Jesus, but on their schedule. Rather than follow after God based on His principles, they wanted to do things their way. But that never works.

Over the years, I have seen that we cannot always do what we want to do, when and how we want to do it, and still follow Jesus. His plan is greater than ours—and always what’s best for our lives—and our challenge is to give up our plan when it conflicts with His.

Our good God has a great plan for our lives, and we can trust Him with the what, the when, and the how. So let’s shift our thinking so that we go when He calls, and let Him take care of the outworking of our future. Like Jesus Himself, let’s subordinate our will to the Father’s.

We can rest confidently in the truth that what God has for us is better than anything we can imagine. God’s will is always our ultimate good. Always.

Help me, Lord, to trust You with the when, the how, and the what that You have for my life. Thank You that You work all those elements together for my good.
