Grace At Gunpoint

Grace At Gunpoint

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Proverbs 18:10

Steve and Anne Seaberry were taken by surprise when awakened by armed robbers in the middle of the night. They watched in disbelief as everything they owned—including their wedding rings—was packed into their own car. As the thieves were preparing to leave, they pointed a cocked gun at the homeowners. But when Steve and Anne began repeating aloud the name of Jesus, the bullet immediately fell to the floor, and they were left unharmed. They credit God’s sufficient grace for this miraculous event.

God doesn’t promise to always intervene on our behalf, but if He does, nothing is too hard for Him. We live in a world where danger is about us on every side. And wise is the Christian who prays with all of his heart every day, “Deliver me from evil, Lord.” God is a God who delivers. Isn’t that good news? He loves to have His children pray for deliverance. He is a God who sees us in our predicaments and delights to deliver us. We can confidently call on His name and trust Him to keep us safe.

Faith, mighty faith, the promise sees and looks to God alone, laughs at impossibilities and cries, “It shall be done.”
