A Prayer For Walking Together
A Prayer for Walking Together
Christ with us, Christ within us.
Through Your mercy and grace,
Forge a bond as we journey together,
Parent and child,
On hushed country roads
And bustling city streets.
As we hit the pavement
And feel the gravel beneath us,
Help us be slow to speak,
Lingering in the sacred silence of together,
And quick to listen
To what is said and left unsaid.
Christ with us, Christ within us.
Give us the wisdom to know
When to hold our children’s hands
And when to let them go.
May our children stay rooted in love,
Even as they move forward in freedom.
Give us the courage to climb together
And know when to step back
And cheer our children on
As they embark on their own adventures.
Christ with us, Christ within us.
May our children know You
In the sun on their faces
And the wind at their backs.
Bless this sacred moment
Of time together.
Let us not dwell on the past
Or get lost in the future
But be fully awake
To Your presence
In the present reality of right now.
Christ with us, Christ within us.
In their comings and goings,
In their youth and in their old age,
Give our sons and daughters
Strength for the journey
And rest for when they’re weary.
And when they walk,
May they walk paths of peace,
Stopping at the side of the road
For the good of a fellow sojourner.
Thank You for the honor of raising children,
And forgive us for the ways we have stumbled
In our parenting journeys.
Christ with us, Christ within us.
Thank You for walking alongside us
As we traverse the hills and valleys,
Tending to growing hearts
And souls and bodies and minds.
We pray all this in Your name,
In Christ alone,
Amen.
