A Prayer For The Transfiguration
A Prayer for the Transfiguration
August 6
O God, I believe.
Help me in my unbelief.
Bring me up to the mountain;
Flash Your brilliance like lightning
So I may understand the weight of glory,
The weight of who You are
And who I am in You.
Family life often feels
Like dancing in the dark.
We bump our shins on tables
And bang our elbows together.
We spin and we laugh;
We stumble and we fall.
We need to see You.
Illuminate the heart of this family,
For You’re still opening the heavens.
The clouds still echo Your name.
You’re still full of power.
Help me be still, O Lord,
So that I may see.
O God, life can feel so ordinary,
Parenting so quiet and common.
But this is a mere disguise
Because everything—everyone—
Reflects Your glory.
Remind me, O Lord,
That Jesus was no ordinary man.
And because of Your dazzling love,
We are not ordinary humans.
Help us see our children
And even ourselves, Lord,
As we truly are:
Those who radiate
Your glory.
Shine through us, Lord,
Today and forevermore.9
