A Prayer For Father’s Day
A Prayer for Father’s Day
Third Sunday of June
Lord, bless the fathers who swaddle babies,
Who make room in the bed after a bad dream,
Who cut crusts off sandwiches,
Who shout loud in the stands,
Who give advice about a job interview.
May they know the hidden moments are holy.
Lord, bless the fathers who never saw what it was
To be a nurturing dad,
Who are trying to forge a new path with their children,
Who keep investing with humility and grace.
May they know their efforts are not in vain.
Lord, bless the fathers who raised us,
Bless the daughters and sons who ache today.
May their hearts be comforted and healed.
And bless those who grieve the loss of their fathers.
May their memories provide comfort.
Lord, bless the fathers in their many forms,
Who love with open arms,
Who walk in patience and peace,
And who bring passion and playfulness
To their families, young and old.
May they feel the fullness of Your great love,
Today and in all days to come.
We thank You, Lord, for fathers.
Psalm 103:13; Malachi 4:6
