No Limits

No Limits

How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets. By faith these people . . . Hebrews 11:32-33

The list above is certainly not exhaustive. There are many more who have gone before us, making a long and unwavering fence line of influence for us. They have shown us that all things are possible through Him who gives us strength. The writer of Hebrews recounts through chapter 11 countless examples of people who achieved incredible things through their faith, but he has to finally give up on the list—the rest would simply “take too long.”

We have similar people of influence around us today, few more inspirational than Dara Torres, an American swimmer and Olympic gold medalist. Torres became the first US swimmer to compete in five Olympic Games. She participated in 1984, 1988, 1992, 2000, and again in 2008.

At forty-one years old, a relatively advanced age for competitive swimmers, she became the oldest swimmer to swim on the US Olympic team. In the 2008 Summer Olympics, she competed in a number of events, including the 50-meter freestyle, 4x100-meter medley relay, and 4x100-meter freestyle relay. Dara won silver medals in all three events.

It is impossible to measure how far-reaching and long-lasting Dara’s influence has been on others, and it was largely because she never saw retirement as a viable option. Now others see doors open that they may not have seen before and may see potential where they saw defeat.

People are quick to tell us that we’re too old or that our “window of opportunity” has passed. God is always ready and willing to use us.

Make sure you’re using your influence to help others see their limitless potential through Christ—what they can be, how they can grow, what they can do to impact others.

Through Him all things are possible.

Uncommon Key > At any age, and in any setting, there really are no limits on the potential we have to influence others for good. And that’s how God intended it to be.
